PILSEN FEST will take place in Chicago on August 18 – 20, 2017, in the Pilsen neighborhood. This outdoor festival will feature renowned musical acts drawing an attendance of 50,000 people (2 days and a kick off event with a classical music concert and photo exhibition). The objective of the Festival is to celebrate and embrace diversity, solidarity and unity.
Pilsen Fest is proud to present the artwork created by Maestro Hector Duarte. This iconic work of art will be the Pilsen Fest's face and companion on the 2017 journey. Héctor Duarte was born in 1952 in Caurio, Michoacán, México. He studied mural painting at the workshop of David Alfaro Siqueiros in 1977. Since moving to Chicago in 1985, Duarte has participated in the creation of more than 50 murals. He has exhibited his paintings and prints in solo and collective shows at such venues as the National Museum of Mexican Art, the School of the Art Institute, the State of Illinois Gallery, the Chicago Historical Society, and Casa Estudio Museo Diego Rivera in México. Duarte has received a number of awards, including a 2008 Artist Fellowship Award from the Illinois Arts Council, 2005 and 2007 Artistic Production Awards from the Secretary of Culture of the state of Michoacán, a 1995 Chicago Bar Association Award for best work of public art and a 1994 National Endowment for the Arts project grant. In 2006 he participated in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as an invited muralist.
PILSEN FEST will make an incredible impact by putting together a musical line up, as well as a production plan that is sure to impress attendees, ensuring their loyalty and return for years to come. The following are some bands we have worked with in the past.
